Holiday

4th of July

It’s the beginning of June, and summer is almost in full swing!  This card was so fun to watch as it came together.  This is an extra large stamp from Colorado Craft Company featuring the American flag.  This set is called In this Together from their Big & Bold collection.  I love how the colors of the American flag really stand out on this card.  This is a solid one piece stamp, so that meant I had to do masking in order to have more than one color on my panel when I was finished.  The trick here, was to stamp on the back of the masking paper, because I was masking the actual stamp instead of masking a stamped image as we’ve done in the past.  So, I stamped my image and fussy cut the stars and stripes.  Then for my first layer of ink, I stamped the accent lines on the white stripes with a very light gray.  I wasn’t worried about getting gray in my red stripes or stars areas, as the dark red and blue would cover it.  Then I masked off my stars and white strips and inked up my red stripes.  I removed my masks, cleaned my stamp, and heat set the red ink just to be on the safe side, since red ink always takes a little longer to dry.  Then I was ready to mask off my stripes and ink up my stars.  My…oh…my… this came out almost perfect!  For my main sentiment, I used the Taylored Expressions Handlettered 4th of July stamp and die sets.  For my sub-sentiment, all I did was print it from my computer as I couldn’t find one I liked in my stash.  I love doing that!  If you ever need to personalize a sentiment, just type it up and print it!  You can watch me create this card here.  Thank you for stopping by!
