For the last few years, Spellbinders has come out with their 12 Days of Stitchmas, stitching die kit, and this year’s kit does not disappoint! There are so many cute holiday themed sets in this kit! I just don’t know if I’ll have the time to use them all. Today, I used Day 1 as an introduction to this year’s kit. Day 1 is an ornament that can be used to make a gift tag or a card. I decided to make a card. But not just any card, I wanted this one to have more of an elegant feel to it. I did a couple different samples in blues and they are more casual and not super fancy. I used all Spellbinders cardstock today. I kept it pretty simple with just 3 main colors, Cranberry, Chiffon and gold foil. I hot foiled my background piece using the Script Text Press Plate in Opal glimmer foil onto Cranberry cardstock. My layering piece was cut from Chiffon cardstock using the Perfect Touch Arches die set. I die cut my ribbons from gold foil cardstock. After I die cut my ornament pieces I stitched them using gold thread that I had in my stash from last year’s add on set. I added foam squares to my stitched pieces and then added them to my ornament. I also added foam tape behind my ornament and my Chiffon layering piece, so there is a lot of dimension. I used a combination of liquid glue and foam tape to adhere my ribbons. I heat embossed my sentiment in white on black to try to break up all the red. The Deck the Halls sentiment also came from a previous year’s add on kit, but you can use any sentiment you may have in your stash. I am really loving how this card came out considering I really didn’t have a plan when I started. I only had an idea of what I wanted it to look like.
