I always need Birthday cards. Today I decided to use Spellbinders BetterPress Society’s Birthday Layer Cake and actually press the plates instead of hot foiling them. The BetterPress Society set are sold exclusively through brick and mortar stores. I signed up for my subscription through Firefly Farm in Minnesota. These cards were so easy to create. I wish you could see the detail and feel them impressions the press plates create! These are amazing in you hand. All are identical except for the colors. You would think they took longer than they really did. I timed myself and it took 28 minutes from start to finish for one card. That’s really not that bad. If you know….you know. First I individually pressed my pieces in the color of my choice. Then die cut the cake, put that aside and then created my background by dry embossing a bubble stencil. Then I added color by ink blending right over the embossed bubbles. So simple, but so cute! I also dry embossed my envelope and added ink blending. Don’t forget the envelope! It really does make your card special! You can watch me recreate this card here.
